At 9:35 p.m. on Jan. 29, Jersey City police responded to a report of shots fired at Summit Avenue and Polar Street, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Police found Rafael Gomez with a gunshot wound to the torso, Suarez said. Gomez was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Suarez said.
Lopez was charged with murder as an accomplice, conspiracy to commit murder and several weapons charges, Suarez said. He was arrested at Hudson County Correctional Facility where is being arraigned on an unrelated matter, Suarez said.
